Hurricanes celebrate a winning try against the Reds.

Hurricanes replacement Pasilio Tosi came on to score the winning try for his team after the game was sent to golden point with the final score of 38-33.

The clash saw the two teams trade blows throughout only to finish regulation time at 33-33, which meant there would be extra time with the first points of any kind enough to secure the win.

The Hurricanes were advancing upfield and managed to get some phases going with the forwards before the ball was handed to the rampant Tosi who showed impressive strength to power over for the winning play.

It was the hosts who got off to the better start with full-back Ruben Love scoring for the Hurricanes after just five minutes. However, his try was cancelled out by Reds number eight Harry Wilson who crossed in the 12th minute for a try converted by Tom Lynagh.

The next blow

Typical to the clash, the Hurricanes landed the next blow as winger Kini Naholo scored in the 25th minute which was converted by Brett Cameron. Once again the seesaw swung with Zane Nonggorr scoring for the Reds, this time going unconverted.

The Reds managed a double blow this time around with scrum-half Tate McDermott scoring in the 37th minute as Lynagh converted. The Hurricanes did have the last say in the half with Cam Roigard scoring on the stroke of the break.

The visitors came out of the blocks in the second half well with Joshua Flook scoring soon after the break which was once again converted. Hooker Matthew Faessler would add further to the Reds score with a converted try on the hour mark.

All Blacks scrum-half Roigard completed his brace minutes later with Cameron’s conversion taking the scores level. That was until Tosi dramatically claimed the win in extra time.
