Following the conclusion of the 2024 Six Nations, where Ireland were crowned the best team in Europe, here’s a look at the Championship in numbers.

Ireland

19 – The number of tries scored by Ireland in their five Tests en route to a second Six Nations title in as many years.

6 – Ireland claimed the Six Nations title for the sixth time, equalling France, England and Wales’ tally and are now just one behind England.

16 – It is their 16th title overall, including titles won during the Home Nations (4) and Five Nations (6).

11 – Ireland managed to equal the record win streak in the Six Nations with 11 on the bounce but failed to add a 12th and take it for themselves.

144 – Andy Farrell’s side scored the most points in the 2024 edition clearing the next best-placed side, France, by 16 points.

56.1% – The champions managed to have the fastest ruck ball with more than half of their breakdowns lasting three seconds or less.

478 – Superstar wing James Lowe was dominant with ball in hand and finished the tournament with the most metres gained.

Leaders

63 – Despite having a slow start by his standards, Frenchman Thomas Ramos pipped Scotland’s Finn Russell in the race for the top-points scorer.

13 – The number of penalties kicked by Ramos, as well as the number of conversions Ireland’s Jack Crowley kicked in the tournament.

5 – Two men finished as top scorers as Scotland’s Duhan van der Merwe scored five, including a hat-trick against England and Irishman Dan Sheehan matched the number which is now the most tries a forward has scored in a campaign since Italy joined the Six Nations.

3 – The try assist charts were hotly contested with France star Damian Penaud joined by Paolo Garbisi (Italy), Jamison Gibson-Park (Ireland) and Scotland duo Huw Jones and Finn Russell all managing the same number.

73 – England’s Ben Earl easily topped the carry numbers with a whopping 15 more than the next competitor.

11 – The number of offloads and linebreaks from Penaud showing how lethal he can be even in a quiet tournament by his standards.

8 – Tommy ‘Turnover’ Reffell led the breakdown turnover stats from the start of the Six Nations and never looked back as he doubled anyone else’s effort.

95.65% – The best team goal-kicking percentage from Scotland mainly led by Finn Russell who kicked better than his normal standards off the tee this season.

Italy

103 – The new record number of tackles made by a player in a single tournament after Italian skipper Michele Lamaro averaged more than 25 tackles per game.

972 – Lamaro led Italy’s tackle count but the team produced the goods as a unit very nearly reached the 1,000 mark.

11 – The number of years Italy were winless at home which changed with a passionate win against Scotland this campaign.

8 – Italy had finished last in the Six Nations for the last eight Championships and avoided a ninth straight Wooden Spoon.

Wales and North

121 – The great George North played his 121st for Wales today after announcing his retirement from international rugby. What a legend he is.

21 – It is the first time in 21 years that Wales have gone an entire Six Nations without winning a single game, having lost all five fixtures back in 2003.

2 – It is only the second time that Wales has finished in last place of the Six Nations, picking up the Wooden Spoon.
