Scotland set for ‘ultimate test’ against Springboks as Autumn fixtures confirmed

Springboks Kurt-Lee Arendse and RG Snyman celebrate the former's try against Scotland during the Rugby World Cup Pool B clash.
Scotland will face the Springboks in one of their four Autumn Nations Series fixtures at Murrayfield Stadium this November.
The Scottish Rugby Union have confirmed November fixtures in Edinburgh, completing their international schedule for 2024.
Gregor Townsend’s charges finished fourth overall in the Six Nations after wins over Wales and England and return to action this July with a four Test match tour to North and South America.
Scotland’s Autumn Internationals
Scotland open their autumn internationals against Fiji at Murrayfield on Saturday, 2 November, before the Springboks – winners of the last two World Cup tournaments – arrive in Edinburgh eight days later.
South Africa and Scotland last clashed during the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool stages, with the Springboks winning 18-3.
World Cup darlings, Portugal will then clash with Scotland at Murrayfield on 16 November before Townsend’s charges complete their international schedule when they host Australia on Sunday, 24 November.
With Scotland hosting Fiji and Portugal in November, it brings the total number of Tests against Tier Two opponents to six, including clashes against USA, Canada, Uruguay, and Chile this July.
World Rugby reveal plans to depower scrums and close ‘Dupont Law’ loophole
“It’s a really exciting prospect to have four home games in succession during November, and the varied opposition will test us in different ways,” Head coach Gregor Townsend said.
“Fiji and Portugal both play a fast and open brand of rugby and performed very well in the Rugby World Cup in France. This will be a challenge for our defense but should make for two great games of rugby.
“Having South Africa as one of our opponents will make for a special occasion. Taking on the reigning world champions is the ultimate test for any team in rugby right now and that will be a game everyone will be looking forward to when the time comes around.
“Our final game against Australia will round off the month nicely, against a team we have fought out some entertaining and close encounters with over the last few years.
“This year’s Six Nations once again demonstrated how inspiring matchdays are at home for our players and we can’t wait to play in front of our supporters once again, four weeks in a row.”
